Install WMI on a Windows server

Having received numerous requests by mail, I decided to write a short article on how to install WMI on a Windows Server 2008. This article will complete these:

Manipulation is quite simple, but the implementation of WMI for non-admin user is more complex, I will mention this part in a future post.

To do this, go to “Server Manager” and “Features”, click on “Add Features” and add “SNMP Services:

Click  “Next” :

Then “Install” :

WMI is now enabled, only users “Administrators” can run remote queries. We will see in next section, how to give execute permissions to a user query is not part of the “Administrators” group.
